Have you checked out Http://www.creonline.com. The site looks to be the oldest website on the web focused on real estate. Many active RE investor participate in the forum. I have been a regular there for some time but have no other connection to the folks who operate the site. I do know the founder started investing in California in the 1970s.

John Corey- Real estate investor, 20+ years – multiple states and countries.
Check my blog – http://johncorey.wordpress.com/ – advice for real estate investors.

Thanks for the links, the one on buying rental property was really good.
